Central Vietnam is famous for its beautiful seas with deep blue water and white sand beaches like Nha Trang, Phu Yen, and Quy Nhon. This summer, I chose Phu Quy, a small island in Binh Thuan Province, for my vacation. I had amazing experiences there.
I like places that aren't too crowded with tourists but still have basic services. Phu Quy has only been promoting tourism for a few years, so I could feel the wild, untouched nature while still enjoying comfortable services like diving, transportation, and homestays.
Places to Visit
Here are some must-see spots when you visit Phu Quy:
Cay Co Don: This tree has become the island's symbol and several tourists take photos here. But it's not lonely anymore since many people wait in line to take pictures, even at noon.
Bai Can: You can book services to swim and dive to see colorful fish and coral reefs.
Doc Phuot - Bai Nho - Ganh Hang: These three spots are along the same route. At Doc Phuot, you can see beautiful green grass and ocean views. Then you can swim at Bai Nho with its clear water and white sand. Finally, if you like adventure, you can climb the steep rocky cliffs at Ganh Hang to swim in Khe Sung Suong and Ho Vo Cuc.
Bai Lang: Where you can collect seashells.
Hon Tranh: I heard the water is super clear and beautiful, but I didn't have time to visit.

You can also ride around the seawall to relax. The blue ocean and strong wind are very refreshing. I have a coffee in The View to watch the sunset, but unfortunately, the sun is hidden by the clouds.
The signature of this island is the Minion motor scooter. You can choose this type when renting a motorbike, but it is quite weak and more expensive than a modern motorbike.

Food
Phu Quy is famous for its seafood, which is fitting for an island. However, the hot beef dishes here are also delicious. Some dishes I recommend: Fresh squid caught from floating cages; beef hotpot and grilled beef; shrimp with salted egg sauce; tofu and squid with fermented soybean paste at Cot Buom restaurant. You can also visit Tam Thanh market to have breakfast with Banh canh cha ca, Banh can, ... And you can enjoy the typical market in the Vietnamese countryside.

Conclusion
I had 3 days chilling with the sea, wind, sun (burnt my skin a little bit), fresh seafood, and meeting nice people. It is not crowded like Nha Trang with bustling activities or amusement parks, but absolutely enjoy nature.
One problem is that we have to go on a boat for 3 hours to visit Phu Quy, which makes some visitors seasick. You should prepare motion sickness medicine and limit eating before the trip.
